MADE IN GERMANY Led Zeppelin Boxed Set foi primeira compilação de músicas da banda (sem contar Coda, que algumas fontes listam como um álbum de estúdio) e a seleção e remasterização das faixas foram supervisionadas por Jimmy Page. A Atlantic Records lançou a caixa em 23 de outubro de 1990 nos Estados Unidos e em 29 de outubro no Reino Unido em diversos formatos: quatro CDs, seis discos de vinil ou quatro fitas cassete. Um livreto de 36 páginas também acompanhava o lançamento. Este set contém duas faixas inéditas e uma nova mixagem. "Travelling Riverside Blues" foi gravada em 23 de junho de 1969 no estúdio Maida Vale da BBC. "White Summer/Black Mountain Side" foi gravada no Playhouse Theatre, em Londres, em 27 de junho de 1969. A mixagem de "Moby Dick/Bonzo's Montreux" foi feita no Atlantic Synclavier Suite, em Nova York, em maio de 1990. Inclui também o único lado B da banda que não fazia parte de nenhum álbum, "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do", do single "Immigrant Song" de 1970, anteriormente inédito em CD. O set foi lançado no mesmo mês que Remasters, um conjunto de dois discos contendo seleções deste, além de uma versão remasterizada de "Good Times Bad Times". Para diferenciar os dois conjuntos, em alguns mercados o conjunto maior é listado sob o título The Complete Collection. Para aumentar a confusão, em ambos os casos, trata-se de uma edição diferente da caixa The Complete Studio Recordings, lançada três anos depois, que inclui todos os nove álbuns de estúdio da banda em dez discos, com as três faixas extras adicionadas ao Coda, juntamente com a gravação de 1969 "Baby Come On Home", lançada inicialmente na caixa dupla Led Zeppelin Boxed Set 2. A mixagem "Moby Dick/Bonzo's Montreux" também está incluída no álbum promocional de entrevistas Profiled (1990).
